Small Isles/Arisaig, Scotland - SKW Expedition

From: Level 3 (Intermediate)

The Small Isles are located south of the Isle of Skye, between the Scottish mainland and the Western Isles. Each island is home to diverse wildlife, a rich history, and stunning views, yet they all have unique characteristics.

Arisaig with its diverse coastline, breathtaking views, varied wildlife, abundant shelter, and sandy beaches features in the top ten kayaking destinations for many kayakers

Both Arisaig and the Small Isles offers the chance of encounters with seals, otters, dolphins, basking sharks, sea birds, eagles, gannets, and giant skuas while exploring beautiful scenery and remote sandy coves.

This wilderness adventure is perfect for paddlers who love a challenge and are ready to dive into wild, remote areas. Laugh and learn with our expert guides as you level up your skills.

Get ready for an experience that’s more than just paddling; it's a thrilling journey through nature’s playground where you’ll become one with the water and whispers of the wild!

  • This year’s SKW Scotland Expedition will be meeting at "Mallaig Backpackers" with the main aim of exploring the Small Isles and with the second option being  exploring Arisaig and the Ardnamurchan Peninsular. If the weather is particularly tempestuous we will be able to find shelter in the nearby lochs.

The expedition will begin on the Sunday morning, with a destination having been decided at the expedition preparation and planning session the night before.

The first and last nights are at Mallaig Backpackers or similar accommodation. The goal for the rest of the week is to live from kayaks and find wild campsites.

  • We will be meeting on the 10th of May at the “Mallaig Backpackers” in Mallaig
