Terms & Conditions

An appropriately qualified coach/guide will lead the activity. The coach/student ratios are in accordance with BCU guidelines. Whilst every reasonable attempt will be made to deliver courses, I reserve the right to cancel or modify the courses due to safety considerations and factors beyond my control.  For example, unfavourable weather/swell could preclude paddling in certain locations.

LIABILITY AND INSURANCE   Sea kayaking and rescue training are potentially dangerous activities. All participants must be aware of this and accept the risks associated with these activities.  ●I am not liable for loss or damage to participants’ property whilst on a course.   Participants are advised to arrange their own insurance cover. I am unable to offer any form of insurance cover (other than public liability).

HEALTH AND SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS   Due to the strenuous nature of kayaking and rescue training, all participants should be physically fit. Anyone with a medical condition must seek medical advice before considering participating.  Participants should be confident in the water.   Participants must be aged 18 or over with the below exception.   Participants under the age of 18 need their parent/guardian to book and attend the same course.    Course participants should not consume alcohol or drugs immediately prior to or during daytime kayaking activities. I reserve the right to refuse participation to anyone considered to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.   I may require any participant to leave the course if that person acts in any such manner as to endanger him/herself or any other person.

DISABILITIES AND MEDICAL CONDITIONS  Disabled persons are welcome to participate in courses. Please send details of your specific needs to me at the time of booking.   I need to be informed of any medical conditions (asthma, epilepsy, deafness etc) or any other wellbeing needs of participants.

EQUIPMENT AND CLOTHING   Participants on kayak courses should provide their own equipment and clothing, unless otherwise specified/arranged. All equipment must be suitable and will be checked by the Course Director.   Kayaks may be available from our coaching fleet.  ●Damage or loss to our equipment caused by negligence, malicious acts or carelessness must be paid for at the time at current replacement value.

BOOKINGS AND PAYMENTS   A booking is only accepted upon receipt of a completed and signed booking form with the appropriate payment.   A deposit of 50% of the course fee or full payment is required when booking.  The balance of Payment should be received 30 days prior to the course at which point pre-course information will be sent.  Expeditions - The balance of the payment for expeditions is required 3 months before the start date. We rarely cancel programs. If a cancellation is unavoidable and we cancel a program, we will issue a full refund or make every reasonable effort to register you for an equivalent program; it is up to you. We strive to make these decisions at least 30 days in advance of the program start date. If you are purchasing a plane ticket or making other bookings to attend this course, we strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation insurance.
