WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT THIS COURSE
This is a level 5 course and is appropriate for participants wishing to develop their sea kayaking skills in dynamic water conditions up to 20kts of wind (POTENTIALLY VERY WINDY), 3kts+ tidal streams (FAST) and 1.5m+ waves. We will be looking to develop skills and tactics in advanced venues like: tide races, surf zones, rock gardens and down wind journeys.
Anglesey is the perfect venue for this course. More often than not advanced sea state conditions are accessible. This helps us to develop participant independence, planning/understanding the advanced environment. We will also encourage risk management decisions to be explored and incident managing/rescue problem solving alongside our advanced water team mates.
Please note all our tuition courses are for Over 18's only - highly skilled 16+ year olds may be welcomed with an equally competent parent
For our 5 day Dynamic Courses - They will only run if there is 2 or more people on the course.
Essentially, we are aiming to help sea kayakers towards becoming more confident journeying and playing in rough water and exposed marine coastal environments. Anglesey’s tideraces provide the perfect backdrop for this.
British Canoeing Advanced Sea Kayak Award - Take a look at SKW’s handy checklist.
We are unlikely to be able to complete the British Canoeing Advanced Sea Kayak Award award on this course, as we may be too busy playing in the tide races, etc, to complete the syllabus. Should you wish to complete this award please book onto a bespoke sea kayaking day with one of our coaching team.
